Shenandoah New Music a new initiative by Shenandoah Conservatory to bring the best artists from the world of contemporary art music to Winchester, expanding the Capital Region’s already-vibrant new music scene throughout northern Virginia.  Just a short drive from Washington, DC, Shenandoah New Music features performances annually in multiple venues, featuring guest artists ranging from new music legends to young guns, and including regular performances by our in-house new music ensemble.  The 2015-16 season will last from September, 2015 through April, 2016, and feature a stellar line-up of guest artists and in-house performances, offering students in both composition and performance exposure to a level of cutting edge, international new music that one doesn’t find too many other places.

  • Pulitzer Prize Visiting Artist Series
  • Phil Kline’s Unsilent Night in Downtown Winchester
  • Guest Artists and Master Classes
  • A full new music season by EDGE Ensemble
  • Student composer reading sessions with the Conservatory Orchestra
  • The return of Shenandoah New Music’s Artists in Residence: Newspeak
